This is the first time that a South Korean electric vehicle company has signed an export contract to produce a large 30-ton electric dump truck.

Saean Group has signed a contract with Japan's TD Lease Corp., which rents and sells construction equipment for tunnel excavation in Japan, to supply 30-ton articulated electric dump trucks.
About 10 officials attended the signing ceremony at the Saean R&D Center in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, including Jung-yong Lee, the chairman of Saean Group, Mikio Yoshimura, the managing director of sales at TD Lease Japan, and Satoshi Grihara, CEO of Saean Japan.
Saean Group explained that the contract has opened the door to entering the large electric dump truck market, and that the industry is paying keen attention to the 30-ton articulated electric dump truck that will be developed and produced by Saean.
The electric dump truck is equipped with a 350kW electric motor and a 250kWh lithium-ion battery, which takes 1 hour for fast charging and 10 hours for slow charging. It can travel up to 80 kilometers on a single charge.
Since it is for construction purposes, it will not be driven or used in general public roads, but will be used to transport soil or aggregates from excavation processes such as tunnels. The speed is designed to be limited to 25 km/h or less according to the law.
Director Yoshimura said, "Even after the development of this electric dump truck is completed, we will expand the lineup of electric equipment necessary for various excavations, including 25-ton electric dump trucks and electric excavators."
Chairman Lee said, "We will jointly develop and produce 30 tons of articulated electric dump trucks with investment of about 3 billion won from Japan's TD Lease Corp, and we will deliver 40 units to TD Lease Corp in two years."
새안그룹은 일본 내 터널 굴착용 건설기계를 임대 및 판매하는 일본 TD 리스(TD Lease Corp.)와 30톤급 굴절식 전기 덤프트럭 공급 계약을 체결했습니다.
경기도 하남시 새안 R&D 센터에서 열린 체결식에는 이정용 새안그룹 회장, 요시무라 미키오 일본 TD 리스 영업총괄이사, 구리하라 사토시 새안 재팬 대표 등 관계자 10여 명이 참석했습니다.
새안그룹은 이번 계약을 통해 대형 전기 덤프트럭 시장 진출의 물꼬를 텄으며, 새안이 개발 및 생산할 30톤급 굴절식 전기 덤프트럭에 업계의 관심이 집중되고 있다고 설명했습니다.
해당 전기 덤프트럭은 350kW급 전기 모터와 250kWh급 리튬이온 배터리를 탑재하고 있어 급속 충전 시 1시간, 완속 충전 시 10시간이 소요됩니다. 1회 충전으로 최대 80km까지 주행할 수 있습니다. 건설용 장비이기 때문에 일반 공공 도로에서는 운행되거나 사용되지 않으며, 터널 등 굴착 과정에서 발생하는 토사나 골재를 운반하는 데 사용될 예정입니다. 주행 속도는 법규에 따라 시속 25km 이하로 제한되도록 설계되었습니다.
요시무라 이사는 "이번 전기 덤프트럭 개발이 완료된 후에도 25톤급 전기 덤프트럭, 전기 굴착기 등 다양한 굴착 작업에 필요한 전기 장비 라인업을 확대해 나갈 것"이라고 말했습니다.
이정용 회장은 "일본 TD 리스로부터 약 30억 원 규모의 투자를 유치하여 30톤급 굴절식 전기 덤프트럭을 공동 개발 및 생산할 예정이며, 2년 내에 TD 리스 측에 40대를 인도할 계획"이라고 밝혔습니다.
